the best rapper alive returns!!!!!

i know what you're saying, the best rapper alive has been back, w/ kingdom come + american gangster. no bro namath, i'm talking about the "BEST" rapper alive. Eminem, Slim Shady, the Shady One, Marshall Mathers, Big Slim Dog, 80 pound........you get the gist. anywho, he finally returns after an all too long hiatus to release his new album Relapse.

coming from an Eminem fan, this album is gonna be dope. coming from a non-Eminem fan, this album is gonna be dope. cop it when it drops May 19th.

friend(ly's) or foe?

w/ the school year winding down, my friends + i decided to take what will likely be one of our last missions, but also a very memorable one. apparently there's an east coast chain of restaurant's called "Friendly's" that my east coast friends love to death. needless to say i had to try it. so the mission ensued.

first we took the metro.

then we hopped on the bus.

close to our destination, we started to hoof it.

after a long trek, we finally reached our destination.

the food better had been as good as they said it was.

as you can see by this empty buffalo wings appetizer plate, it was as good as they said it was.

honey bbq chicken supermelt? sinful.

you love to see this.

this trip to Friendly's will go down in history as our greatest mission yet. the long metro ride + bus ride that made me think we were lost for half of it was well worth it.

"I'm just a kid from south central if anything"

from his clothes to his flows Dom Kennedy is the best representation of the West Coast that we have right now amongst other up + coming artists. if you haven't heard his first mixtape The 25th Hour you should definitely go imeem that or sumn. it held me down summer of '08 + still does in my Howard dorm. his music is mad smooth + just puts you in a "driving down Crenshaw" state of mind. any time i get home sick i put on some Dom + it feels like i'm back in LA.

Dom Kennedy is currently about to drop his new mixtape FutureStreet/DrugSounds. It should be available for download by April 28th. i personally cannot wait. you shouldn't be able to either.

mag(OAT)ic.

GOAT: greatest of all time. this is a very coveted title. not many can say they are the goat of anything, let alone the sport of basketball. if you ask me, though, there is a goat of basketball; the olympian, assist-leader, and all-around champion Earvin "Magic" Johnson.

why you ask? Magic was a 6'9 point guard by classification, but rly could and did play any position on the floor, including center (rookie season championship game. wiki it.). he was a floor general w/ a knack for getting the ball anywhere on the floor at will w/ his dazzling passing. His passing is what earned his team the "Showtime" label in the 80s.

Magic's Lakers would go on to dominate the 80s w/ championship after championship. many would say that Magic had an amazing supporting cast. i beg to differ. besides Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, none of the Lakers were household names until Magic got them involved. are you trying to tell me "Big Game" James Worthy would be so "Big Game" w/o Magic. do you think people would even know who Kurt Rambis is?!?!?!? i think not.

of course people are going to disagree w/ me. some will say i'm biased b/c he played for LA. most will say the man guarding Magic in the picture above is the true goat. Magic's career was cut short due to his contraction of HIV, but his impact on the NBA and its fans still continues. he may not have a cool shoe or clothing line to continue his legacy, but it's still alive and well. his optimism is infectious and he is a role model to me + many others. how would he affect the game if he nvr got HIV? who knows........but he will always be the goat in my book regardless.

dance contest??!?!?! at an hbcu?!?!?!?

i recently attended a big Howard dance competition. i'm not rly a fan of dance competitions, but i am a fan of socialism and entertainment so yea. i'm there. this was a competition of the dorm dance teams. they ranged from good, terrible, to just plain wtf lolz. anywho, here are some pics.

of course someone would imitate the g.o.a.t. the Jabbawockeez. smh.

not only was there dancing, but there was also "strolling". intriguing? not rly.

ok enough bashing it was mad fun. i just sometimes try to avoid hbcu stereotypes, but i guess that's what makes hbcus unique, right?

yeezy pass.

as you may or may not know (if you don't know then you may also not know what a computer is.), the most anticipated shoe in a while has finally dropped: The Air Yeezy. Kanye West X Nike? sounds like one of the best collaborations ever right? the first ever non-athlete signature shoe? why are the reviews so mixed, then?

the Yeezys are certainly eye-catching. the extremely high-top silhouette + glow-in-the-dark sole are the highlights that'll make anyone do a double-take. just the fact that they're Kanye shoes, ultra-limited, and expensive ($215 retail? imagine the resell value!), make them a smart buy for the stylish socialite in all of us, right? this is a "Dream" shoe (love-hate lolz). there's no in-between w/ a shoe like this. nonetheless, hypebeasts, collectors, and just plain Kanye West fans were standing in line for days awaiting this release.

my opinion? i'm an extreme Kanye West fan + an extreme sneakerhead, i'm supposed to love this shoe right? i also like simplicity in my fits, + this shoe doesn't fit into my style. you wouldn't be far off if you defined Kanye as a hypebeast, which is something i try not to be (even though i frequent the forums. smh.). this is an easy pass kick for me, though. Martin Louis the King Jr. is a rapper/producer extraordinaire first, artist second. i'd rather go buy 808s than this shoe. now if i were rich......... :0/
